                                           Common Black Ground Beetle (Peterostichus melanarious)

                                        Like the name common black beetle is common to find under most logs.

                                                       Jerusalem  Cricket (Potato Bug)
 A extremely large relative of the common cricket the Jerusalem Cricket can grow to 3 inches long, and does not have the long back legs of the cricket.

                                             Poison Oak (Toxicodendron diversilsilum)
   Though this Poison Oak plant is dying, it shows the red/green color and three leaf pattern hikers know to avoid on the trail.

                                                  PRICKLY PEAR CACTUS (Optunia litoralis)

         The Prickly Pear Cactus is a large Dark/light green cactus with pink or orange fruit.  It has small hair like bristles that come of during contact with the bristles. Tends to grow sporadically in the area in which its present and can grow as tall as 10ft or more if left undisturbed.
